Tanishq Jewellery once again pulls down its ad, this time after facing backlash over their Diwali commercial promoting cracker ban. The ad featured Bollywood actors Neena Gupta, Sayani Gupta, Alaya F, and Nimrat Kaur
Tanishq Jewellery has withdrawn yet another recently launched ad from social media after facing massive backlash. The new Ekatvam ad which was launched for the occasion of Diwali, featured Bollywood actresses Neena Gupta, Sayani Gupta, Alaya F, and Nimrat Kaur, and each of them talked about what they wanted to do this Diwali. Sayani Gupta mentions in the ad that she hopes to meet her mom, and wouldn’t be bursting firecrackers. She also advised people shouldn’t be lighting any firecrackers.
Sayani Gupta says in the ad, “I am hoping to be able to meet my mom after really long. Definitely no firecrackers, I don't think anyone should light any firecrackers. But a lot of diyas, lot of laughter hopefully and lot of positivity.” There was social media outrage over this ad as the statement did not go down well with a section of Twitterati. BJP National General Secretary C T Ravi tweeted, “Why should anyone advise Hindus how to celebrate Our Festivals? Companies must focus on selling their products, not lecture us to refrain from bursting Crackers.”
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri wrote, “This Diwali, let’s kill tradition, Hindu culture and promote consumerism. Because photoshopped secular models with fake smiles and VFX bodies loaded with regressive Gold jewellery will lead us to Ekatvam - the Vedic philosophy of Oneness.”

We will light lamps, distribute sweets and burst green crackers. Please join us. You will understand Ekatvam. https://t.co/EfmNNDXWFD

#BoycottTanishq started trending on Twitter, and later Tanishq pulled down the ad. This is the second time within a month that the jewellery brand has taken down its advertisement.
